Dear V,
Thanks for all your great work and support.
As you know I have been a failed weight watchers person 3 times and failed a Rec weight reduction course previously. This time there were some key differences.
Firstly I was nearing the obese end of the BMI.
Secondly I had to make a $200 financial commitment.
Thirdly I had to make a commitment to the group. I would happily have walked away many times and had that extra junk food if it was just me, but knowing that I had to front up for the weigh in and didn’t want to let the rest of the group down, I had to hang in there.
Finally and most importantly I had the support and direction of someone who challenged my conservative (and previously failed) ideas and didn’t accept a half hearted approach or settling for less than the maximum result.
I have now broken the break of this terrible weight burden.
My blood pressure is down and the doctor is talking about reducing my medication if the weight and BP stay down. In addition by cholesterol which was borderline has reduced by about 25%.
You asked about my aims between now and Christmas. Well I am planning to get down to a regular weight (in running gear on the gym scales) of 78kg which will take me back to my weight of 1995 as recorded on my membership card. I am also increasing my running and am aiming for an 8 km Tan Trial time of 44mins for the December run. I can then consider my aims for next year. ( my long term goal for ten years has been to run my fastest marathon in my 50s and as I only had 3hrs 57mins to beat it was a possibility but at 56 and only 2 kg from the obese BMI it was a forgotten dream! Now I am reconsidering all options.
My family and friends can’t believe the difference in the way I look and what has been achieved.
Thank you so much for all your assistance.
Paul S
